Job Description: Creative Director: the Creative Director (CD) coordinates a team, with the primary responsibility to oversee operations within the Creative group and facilitate integration with other departments. The CD will team up with ACD and Strategy to build solid concepts that will be executed through to final production. They will manage creative relationships with clients, such as helping meet and exceed client needs, participating in client presentations and new business pitches. Responsibilities will also include: • monitoring creative quality • corporate branding • staff and resource planning • staff management and mentoring • Must be committed to project budgets and schedules Day to Day tasks of the Creative Director: • Manages team leads (Graphic Design, Content and Usability) to ensure strategic and creative objectives are understood and consistently met, communicating project status and recommending adjustments to plan. • Provide conceptual, design, stylistic and copy direction as appropriate for all client applications with leadership in creative quality assurance. • Establish company identity and standards aligned with the company brand, delivering guides and manuals which enable efficient and consistent results. • Develop and effectively communicate, internally and externally, the goals of the department and the company. • Communicate effectively with the company departments, team members and other project related groups to ensure project objectives are understood and consistently met, communicating project status and recommending adjustments to plan. • Mentor, guide, and inspire creative teams via brainstorming sessions and one-on-one meetings with direct reports to ensure growth and quality. CD will provide staff with reviews to set goals for individuals Identify and fulfill staffing requirements with internal and external resources. • when necessary, CD should be able to help out with either copywriting and/or architecture in a hands-on capacity • CD will review in-house and freelance resources to help keep an efficient, high-end creative atmosphere. • Manage the resource allocation and scheduling process of the creative staff (along with Associate Creative Directors) and participate in scheduling and assignments with other department managers. • Ability to develop creative briefs and client presentations • Monitor staff utilization against goals MINIMUM Qualifications: The Creative Director must have excellent motivational drive, ability to effectively communicate with a diverse audience and desire to work in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment. Previous supervisory and performance management of creative staff is necessary. The Creative Director must maintain flexibility and willingness to work beyond duties as described in the job description and be able to work across teams as needed. MINIMUM Education and/or Experience: • BA or BFA in Liberal Arts, Design or very closely related degree • must have a majority of experience gained from the Pharmaceutical field. • 7 + years creative work experience • Experience in direct supervision and performance management of creative staff • must be conversant with different media including interactive, video and other rich media. • Expertise in content development or usability a plus • Understanding of marketing communications • Experience with interactive and web technologies, usability and site architecture, and content and design methodologies. • Minimal travel – less than 10% - to client meetings, conferences and conventions as necessary
